I was born in Weatherford (1963), and was raised in Fort Worth. I am the son of an architect and my mother is an interior designer. I was born into an Episcopal family, and was baptized at St. John's Fort Worth. I attended St. John's throughout my childhood and was an acolyte beginning at age six. I attended Trinity Valley High school, graduating in 1981, it was there that I met my future wife, Stephanie (yes, we have been a couple since we were 16). I then attended Texas Tech University, majoring in Architecture. Stephanie also began in Architecture and moved to interior design her junior year. I graduated from Texas Tech and went to work. After a two years I went to work for my fathers firm in Fort Worth. During these years our first two sons were born; Russell (1988) and Reece (1994). I practiced architecture for eight years. In 1996, I finally acknowledged that the Lord had called me to ministry many years earlier. I quit my practice and went to Nashotah House Seminary in Wisconsin. While I was in Wisconsin I was the youth minister for Trinity Wauwatosa for two years. Also while in Wisconsin, my third son Jacob was born; (1998) I graduated in 1999 and was ordained a transitional deacon. In December of 1999 I was ordained a priest. I went to work for All Saints Episcopal church in Fort Worth as the curate in charge of youth ministries. After a year I also was hired as the chaplain to the upper school at All Saints Episcopal School. I taught religion classes for freshmen. In 2001, I accepted a call to serve three missions in Possum Kingdom, Graham, and Jacksboro. After three and a half good years at these missions, I accepted the call to become rector of Church of the Good Shepherd, Wichita Falls.
